Thinking through my post a bit more, do you ever try to bundle your products with PCs/laptops? Or install lite versions as part of the sold desktop kit? An icon on the desktop is worth a thousand googles, I'd have thought. Listpro in particular is astonishingly addictive to non-techies and is in a space completely ignored by the main office suites. But unless it's preloaded many people won't get it.

Arrange wit carriers/OEMs to put a lite (say 15 cards) version into ROM of all the HTC Wizards/treos. Like pockettunes/ documents to go on palm. Don't just leave it on the CD. What better place for a mobile wallet?

ahem ... for the 500,00th time ... for the right amount of money I am willing to stand on various street corners and yell at the top of my lungs. ;)

Seriously, for the most part there's a few things that I think above and beyond all others works -

1. The product being in the hands of end users. We all talk on various forums and if we love the product we are more than happy to recommend it when someone new comes along looking for something similar.

2. The product being in the hands of bloggers/news for reviews. If I google something I'm not going through 10 pages to find what I'm looking for - I'll check out the first couple products I come across to see if they do what I want - and read a couple reviews. The higher you are on the google pages the better and the better the reviews the more likely I am to buy.

3. Giveaways. I loooovvveee freebies! But once I've gotten one quality product from a company chances are I'm going back to them to see if they sell what I'm looking for. If they do 95% of the time I'm going to buy from them because I know they make good stuff.

4. Fully functional trials that last more than 1 or 2 uses (which you already do) :)

From Eric's post:

"The new password on my laptop is "Eric". And just in case I forget my name, I'm going to write it on the outside of the case with a Sharpie."

Yesterday at work, a gentleman came in who did in fact have his name written on his laptop with a Sharpie. I don't know if that was his password, though. That's certainly one way to get the word out about who he is, except that his name was situated such that it was upside-down when the machine was open and in use. ;)

What introduced me to Ilium was contest at SolSie.com and Justanothermobilemonday.com. And that's also how I helped introducing Ilium Software to others!
It does cost you some free copy's but that's less than most adds (I think?) and people like contests MUCH more than adds!
