We are extremely excited to announce that eWallet 7 has just been released. Not only does eWallet 7 include a completely revamped Windows PC version, a working preview of eWallet for Mac, and a host of new features, we’re working to create a new approach to selling mobile software.
Also – if you’re just coming back to the blog, make sure to read the update at the bottom of the post!
For the full story on eWallet 7, read on after the jump…
Software is for People, Not Devices
I love the new features in eWallet 7, but I’m going to start with something that I think is the biggest news. With the release of eWallet 7 we’re reshaping the idea of how people buy mobile software. For years there has been an idea that you buy software for your mobile device. This doesn’t make sense to us. People aren’t buying the software for the device. The software is for the person. That’s why with eWallet 7 we’ve completely re-imagined how you buy the product.
Now, for $19.95, you can use eWallet on any device we support. No extra versions. No extra purchases. When you buy eWallet it’s for you – not your device. This is true even for iPhone users (see the information here for details on how this works for iPhone.)
And for our existing customers, upgrading just got better (and cheaper!) For just $10.00 you can use the latest version of eWallet on your Windows PC, Windows Mobile device, or BlackBerry, and get full access to the Mac Preview.
A New Desktop Version
The next big news is that we’ve rewritten eWallet for Windows PC from the ground up. With eWallet 7, the Windows PC version is easier to use than ever before, offers more options for customization, brings you some great new features, and looks amazing. We even included a way to get the Old School eWallet feel for folks who aren’t ready for a big change!
eWallet for Mac Preview
With eWallet 7 we’re also releasing a special 30 day preview of eWallet for Mac. It doesn’t include everything, but this special preview edition is ready for you to try. We even built a special tool into the iPhone version that lets you manually transfer files from your iPhone to your Mac so you can try it with your own wallets!
And if you’re an owner of the complete eWallet package, use your eWallet registration codes to unlock the Mac Preview for unlimited use!
Image Synching and More…
And that’s not all…eWallet 7 adds a number of other new features as well, including synching for inserted background images. Now, you can create an amazing wallet on your desktop complete with background images and sync it over to your iPhone or Windows Mobile device where you’ll get the same, great looking wallet!
What Do You Need to Do?
We’ll be sending out upgrade notifications over the next week with all the information you need to get eWallet 7. If you purchased within the last 90 days, we’ll upgrade you to the full eWallet package at no charge. If you purchased before that time, it’s just $10.00 to upgrade the entire package.
iPhone customers will get the upgrade to eWallet 7 for free, but please be aware that if you purchased the desktop version more than 90 days ago, you will need to pay for the upgrade if you wish to use the eWallet 7 Windows PC version.
And if you use the iPhone and DON’T WANT TO UPGRADE your desktop software, we have a special version of eWallet 6 that you can use. Read all about it here!
RELEASE UPDATE 12-1-09
As you can probably tell this is a HUGE release. We’ve changed more things in more places than we ever have in any release of our software ever. We aren’t surprised to hit a few bumps along the way. SO here is what I can offer as far as how things are going!
People Love It! OK, I couldn’t resist mentioning this – in part as a pat-on-the-back to all the folks who have busted their tails on this project here at Ilum Software. Thank you to EVERYONE OUT THERE who has been emailing and posting compliments about this release. It’s great to hear so many positive comments!
Non-English Windows Installs: It looks like some folks running non-English installs of Windows are getting errors when they run eWallet 7. We are working on this as we speak and getting very close to discovering why this is happening!
BlackBerry Unlock Codes: We’ve also had some folks hitting snags when they try to register their BlackBerry version. Again – we’re working on this and will keep you updated.
Support Calls and Emails: We WILL respond to everyone, but right now Lee and Kevin are absolutely swamped – mostly good stuff but still swamped all the same – we apologize for the delays but at this stage we’re going as fast as we can. SO we’ll try to post on the biggest issues here on the blog and will try to get through all the request for support before the week is out. Sorry for the wait and thanks for your patience!
iTunes Reviews: We totally understand the frustration a lot of folks felt over the trouble with the iPhone update and we’re really sorry for the grief it caused. Even though we provided a fix, I imagine that not all of that has disappated – HOWEVER – if you feel so inclined to either provide us with a positive review OR improve a negative one, we would REALLY appreciate it. We’d really like folks to know that when something goes wrong we don’t just sit back and ignore it – I really hate asking for reviews but in this case we’d really appreciate the support if you feel so inclined. Thanks!
And that’s it for now! We’ll keep you updated as we go. It’s an exciting time here and I think as the year progresses you’ll find that this is just he beginning!

Perfect – thank you! Synced to/from iphone, PC, WinMob and MAC; all quick and easy.
Classy new interface/s too – and I love, love the Mac version (I know, I know: Mac b e t a, it’s got a month of tweak-time) – but it’s really good already!
And registration worked fine for me; I installed the trial versions and entered in the codes, no problem.
Oh, and could I add a +1 for Sven’s “big ol’ card icons” suggestion?
Hey – just got the ‘your wallet will lock in X seconds’/cancel warning, complete with bouncing dock icon – nice touch.
Thanks again, it’s really great!
–> If anyone reads this, we should be posting reviews on itunes (not everyone thinks to come to this site for reviews/info).
My Wallet 7 does not synchronize with the iPhone. German Windows XP – paying money for not usable software ist very nice……….
Thanks for money-grapching, the best way, to get rich.
I hope on a very fast solution or money back by paypal.
eWallet 7 seems to have some difficulty with Windows 7 Dutch. It fails to start up. But I am convinced this problem will be solved by Ilium Software very soon.
The mobile version is excellent.
eWallet is a very important and daily used program for us.
So this is a “thank you” to the developers and also a “we are expecting that it will work fine on the desktop”.
We are positive!
I upgraded my iphone and I just upgraded my PC eWallet software, paying $10.00 for it.
My PC eWallet 7 fails on starting, I am able to view my wallet, but I have an error message and then the software closes…
HELP please !!!! I’m regretting to have upgraded !!!!
thank you
I agree with Sven above about the Windows version, regarding the useless card stats in the right-hand pane when you click a category in the tree. Why not show the cards? The stats are useless and not having the cards display means extra hassle because of the extra clicks required.
Also, are there any keyboard shortcuts to switch between the tree view and Find view? The new UI is pretty good for Find, but unless you can get rid of it quickly then it’s a pain… with 6.x you could just hit ESC and it went away.
I liked the look and feel of the upgrade, so…I upgraded. I also changed my review on the app store as well.
EWALLET CRASHES ON START
If you are seeing this I’ll bet $100 you are running a non-English version of Windows. Some non-English Windows users are running into this problem and we are working to fix it right now. We will keep you updated!
@Scoob: Thanks for all the great input on the sync issue using VmWare. Our support folks have made ntoes of this so we can help others.
@Krzysztof: Thanks – I’ll pass this along.
@Arley: Thanks for the feedback and compliments! I’ll add your requests to the list as well.
@Merlock: Thanks!
mattbg: Good to hear other points of view on this. We’ll definitely consider all opinions. And I added your thoughts on find to the request list.
M.D. VERDIER, Mrs. M.J. Noorman, Michael Thonet: We’re working on this! Hopefully have a fix very soon.
SUPPORT REQUESTS
I know we’re behind due to the influx of calls and emails, but we will answer everyone. If you ask a question here the best I can offer is a quick comment in reply – I really can’t give full support via the blog. If you need support – please contact support@iliumsoft.com or call us. We will help! We’ll also keep posting updates here.

@All:
And to those watching the comments for info – I just posted a new blog post with a Release Update.
Sorry Marc. Not really happy to be obliged to buy an upgrade to have again synchronization between my iPhone and my PC, I’ve stopped using eWallet and for about the same price of the version 7 upgrade I’ve got an iPhone + Windows + Mac version of another product which is complete and stable.
@Claude: You don’t have to buy an upgrade and I’m really sorry that you had that impression. It’s something we’ve been struggling with the past couple days due to some bad communication on our part. This blog post actually includes the information for this but I’ll email you as well. Again – for others reading – you do NOT have to upgrade to keep synching.
scoob said: Anyone else having such issues? Anybody running Windows using Parallels on a Mac who has successfully upgraded eWallet and has sync working?
I’m using Parallels 5.0/Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit/24″ iMac 3.06GHz/4GB RAM/latest Snow Leopard.
With eWallet 6.1 I observed the fact that if the iPhone failed to be detected for any reason my only recourse was to exit eWallet on the virtual machine and try the sync again–retry simply did not work–ever.
I also noticed that I had to get the sync running on the iPhone side (waiting for desktop message) before I executed the sync on the virtual machine. If I executed on the virtual machine first it would always fail. However I could usually get the sync going after exiting and restarting eWallet 6.1 on the virtual machine a time or two.
When I upgraded to eWallet 7.0 I simply couldn’t get the sync to work at first. I tried deleting the partnership and restoring it. eWallet on the virtual machine failed to detect the iPhone. I finally exited the virtual machine, restarted it, re-ran eWallet 7.0 and after a few cycles of exiting/restarting eWallet on the virtual machine partnership was established and the sync completed.
I am now at exactly the same position with 7.0 as I was with 6.1, i.e. if the sync fails for any reason I exit eWallet on the virtual machine, restart it and then execute the sync again. Sometimes it will sync on the first try as it should and usually syncs on the first re-try, but in my testing I have had it fail a few times–up to three or four, I think. However, persistence has always paid off as the sync has finally been executed.
@Ron: Thanks for posting this – we’ll keep working on the mac version so that you can solve this problem in a more permanent way!
@scooob: I guess I should have read all your posts before answering! I read the support article which recommended using ‘bridged’, switched to bridged and sync now works on the virtual machine without any problems.
@Marc: Thanks! looking forward to the final Mac version! I still have two Windows 7 64 bit PC systems here but I am slowly moving all of my normal daily work over to the iMac and MacBook Pro.
Looks good on initial use although had install error (emailed support). One bug, on card view the passwords are showing in the card reflection even if hidden.
@scooob: Yup that did the trick. Switching to bridging and rebooting the guest OS.

WE KNOW ABOUT THE CRASH!
As I said on this blog post and the one after it, we are aware that some users of non-English versions of Windows are seeing a crash. We also have fixed this problem (as I said in this blog post and the next) AND an update will be out this morning! We’re very sorry for the trouble – this is not something we were aware of and we immediately fixed it – the fix WILL BE OUT this morning!
The product crashes on non English system (OS)!
And the support does not even respond to the eMails you send!
I spend money for nothing…

THANK YOU FOR GETTING OUT A BETA OF THE MAC VERSION!!!!
Finally, after almost two years of fighting with CrossOver for MAC and VMware Fusion for the only program I can’t live without on my MAC, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Nice work on the BETA. SYNC (FTP, iPhone, etc.) is still one of the biggest hurdles at this point of making this the best and only passward vault that is worth paying for.
@Christopher: Thanks! We’re very excited about it! It’s fun to share all of this with people at last!
@MARC: THX !!!
Now it works fine on non English system!
Thanks to the team!
I am still using an old old version of eWallet (ver 5) and since I bought an iphone and converted to a Mac am using it unsynced in VMFusion. Am REALLY REALLY keen to see a full Mac version, but am reluctant to change until its available. Looks like you have a beta version ready in this latest upgrade. Any news on when the full monte is likely?
Regards
Andrew
Ewallet crashes on Windows 7 as soon as it tries to Sync with my iphone. Seems to work fine otherwise but without the sync it is useless.
eWallet version 7 installed on Windows 7 fails to detect iPhone (Latest APP installed) which is on the same wifi network.
For those having sync problems with an iPhone I fixed it by doing the following. Not sure if you have to do it all but it did work for me.
1 – I deleted the partnership with the iPhone on my PC
2 – Added the partnership back but still got an error but this time it could not find the iPhone instead of the Unexpected error: 1010
3 – I went to the firewall on the PC and deleted eWallet from the Exceptions and closed the firewall.
4 – Went back to the firewall and added eWallet back to the list of exceptions.
5 – Added the new partnership and it worked!
Hope this helps,
Ken

@Andrew: Sorry, Andrew. We still aren’t announcing the release schedule.
@Peyman and Miro: Please be sure to email support – I really can’t do tech support here on the blog. I’m sure they can help you!
@Ken: Thanks for sharing Ken! I’m sure that will help some folks.
thank you for the all the updates and bug notifs , no real issues but i’ll try to break it .
