What’s with the Windows bugs?

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Although most of the people who have upgraded to eWallet 7 on Windows PCare having no trouble at all, there are a few folks running into bugs. A few of these bugs are really frustrating and we’re not taking this lightly. We’ve got developers working non-stop on these and we hope to have an update in the near future.

Most of the people who are running into trouble are already working with Kevin, Lee, and myself on getting the issues ironed out but I wanted to just take a minute to explain why you are seeing bugs! Understanding the developer end of things may not make everything better, but it might help give some insight into what is going on.

I’m also going to mention a few of the bugs we’ve seen at the end of this post. One reminder, however…please send us email if you need support. We just can’t do it here in the blog comments!

That said…read on if you want the full story!

eWallet 7 Released! (Update 3)

Monday, December 7th, 2009

walletHappy Monday! The eWallet 7 release is going GREAT. We couldn’t be happier with the response to this new version of eWallet. Thanks to everyone for the amazing feedback, the purchases, and the kind words! It was a LOT of work getting here and seeing how much people like it is just great. Thanks! (If this is the first you’ve heard of the release of eWallet 7, definitely check out the post here that gives all the details!)

And I’d like to repeat something:  a special “THANK YOUto everyone who has gone to iTunes and either added a positive review or updated a review! We really appreciate that!!! iTunes reviews really are very important and we’ve never seen reviews as a customers “job.” As a result, every review is an amazing favor so thank you to everyone for your support!

We released eWallet 7.0.1 last week- it’s an update that fixes a problem folks with non-English Windows installations ran into as well as an issue with unlocking the BlackBerry version. Sorry to everyone who ran into these but thanks to everyone who supplied us with the info we needed to fix them!

Re: SUPPORT ON THE BLOG
I just want to repeat something I’ve posted in comments. Although I do my best to answer any questions or concerns the come up in the comments, we really can’t provide tech support here. We do, however, offer email support with real people personally answering every email AND phone support with real people answering the phones. If you have a problem WE WILL HELP YOU!  The one caveat is that we’re running a little behind due to the massive amount of interest in eWallet 7 so it may take us an extra day or so, but everyone will get a reply!

Before I close out this blog I’ll hit a few of the FAQs that are coming up…so read on after jump for the rest of the story…

eWallet 6 to eWallet 7 iPhone Sync Compatibility

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

oopsAs some of you know, we made a bit of a screw up in our wording of the iPhone Sync Update message (we apologize for that – it wasn’t our intent to mislead anyone). As a result, our developers leaped into action and busted out a special build of eWallet 6 for Windows PC that lets you synchronize eWallet 6 on the Windows PC with eWallet 7 on the iPhone.

What Is It? A special version of eWallet 6 that lets you synchronize eWallet 6 on the Windows PC with eWallet 7 on the iPhone.

How Does It Work? Just download the file here and run the installer. If it asks for your registration code, your eWallet 6 codes should work. If you don’t have your eWallet 6 codes any longer, you can request them here. IF YOU INSTALLED eWALLET 7 FOR DESKTOP, UNINSTALL IT FIRST.

Who Need It? ONLY iPhone users who own eWallet 6 on the desktop and do not want to upgrade their desktop software to eWallet 7 need this. If you are upgrading to 7 or don’t own an iPhone. You do NOT need this.

So there you go! Hopefully this will help out the folks who got stuck with eWallet 7 on their iPhone. I’m pretty sure most people will want to upgrade to eWallet 7, but at least this way you’ve got a choice!

Thanks and sorry for the trouble!

Marc

PS: We did a bunch of testing and believe this should work fine, but please let us know ASAP if you run into any trouble! We’ll work on any issues immediately.

Apples2Oranges: Now Just 99 Cents!

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

a2o_logo512Haven’t tried Apples2Oranges? Well now is your chance! We’ve just reduced the price to 99 cents!

Now I know this is unlikely, but there just might be some folks who don’t know what Apples2Oranges is. Let me explain it this way…it’s frustrating to figure out different conversions in your head – impossible if you’re looking at units you aren’t familiar with. You can waste lots of time standing in the store with two different packages in your hands, trying to do the math on which is a better deal, or which has fewer calories per serving.

Now you don’t have to waste time or worry about getting the math wrong. Just pull out your iPhone and get the answer in a few taps with Apples2Oranges™ – a quick and easy price comparison and unit conversion app from Ilium Software, available for your iPhone™ or iPod® touch.

Get your copy of Apples2Oranges today!

(Added note by Ellen: Anyone who buys or has bought Apples2Oranges – please consider adding a review of it to iTunes. We’re fairly sure that reviews help our search ranking, which in turn helps sales. We know a lot of people find Apples2Oranges useful, but more reviews would help even more people find it. Thanks!)

Mac eWallet

Friday, April 17th, 2009

mac_logo147That get your attention? Thought so! Well, Mac eWallet isn’t out yet but it is being worked on. After the latest in a long line of challenges getting this project finished, I’ve pulled the project back in-house (it had been assigned to contractors). We now have one of our in-house developers assigned to the project full-time.

I still can’t tell you too much about it BUT I will offer a few tidbits. First, it looks every bit as good as the iPhone version of the software does. Second, it has a distinctly “Mac” interface – we didn’t just port over a copy of desktop eWallet – we know full well that you Mac folks have certain expectations and we’re doing what we can to meet those expectations. At the same time, the end result is something you’ll still recognize – one look and you’ll say “Hey! It’s eWallet!” Getting it that way was tricky but I think you’ll be please.

Of course not as pleased as actually GETTING it I imagine. I’m still hoping for a release mid-year, but that’s as close as I can get at the moment. We’ll keep you updated, though!

Apples2Oranges Now Available!

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Apples2Oranges, our latest iPhone application, is now available in the AppStore! Compare prices and nutritional information with a few simple taps! Whether you’re looking to save a few bucks or trying to drop a few pounds, Apples2Oranges offers an easy and fun way to do it!

We’re extremely excited about this one because it really is a first-of-its-kind release. There are other unit comparison apps out there, but nothing that really focuses in on one of the most common reason people buy those things. You can read all the official stuff in the product description and on our website, but I’ll give you my personal slant on this one.

First off, I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve sat there banging my head against the grocery store shelf trying to figure out whether the 12 pack of Big-K Cola is a better deal than the 24-pack of Coke. With Apples2Oranges you can figure it out in just a couple of quick taps!

One of my other favorite uses is measuring cholesterol content. At my last checkup my doc pretty much told me that my cholesterol is so high that the fact that I don’t exercise is the probably the only thing keeping me alive (OK, it wasn’t THAT bad but it wasn’t good.) Anyhow, now I’m constantly doing the “This one? Or this one?” thing at the store, reading the nutritional info on the sides of the box. But does ANYONE use the same serving sizes? Heck, no. Again, Apples2Oranges does the trick by letting me get an equal comparison even when the serving sizes are totally different. Thank you Apples2Oranges!

OK, enough infommercial. I really think everyone is going to like this one. It’s insanely useful and the team here did an excellent job on it. Not only that, but our art guys did a bang up job making it really darn pretty (I love the little gears. :) )

Apples2Oranges is available today in the iTunes AppStore for just $4.99. Just click here for a direct link to the official listing. You can also read about it on our web page here. Finally, I’ve included a few screenshots below so you can get a look at it ahead of time!

Enjoy!
