Kings Corners from Ilium Software!

Kings Corners for iPhone is now available in the AppStore! I’m extremely excited about this, and the best part for you is that it’s only 99 Cents! If you want the official marketing pitch, we’ve got a web page here. Or if you just want to buy it now, go here! In this post I’m just going to tell you my own thoughts on the game.

So if you want the candid scoop on our new game, read on after the jump!

A Blast from the Past!

Those of you who’ve been around awhile might say, “Kings Corners? That sounds familiar.” Well, you’re right! Kings Corners was part of a game pack we used to sell called Game Bag One. It was the second program we came out with after InScribe back in 1997. Kings Corners was the most popular game in the collection (and a personal favorite of mine), so we dusted it off and brought it back for the iPhone!

What Is Kings Corners?

Fun! But I’ll talk about that next! The game is based off a solitaire classic called Kings in the Corners. The idea is to get all the face cards down on the table without running out of slots to place cards in. If you want more details on the play the best thing to do is just play it!

Why do I like it? For one thing this game is insanely fun and addictive. It’s simple and straight-forward, but manĀ  does it suck you in! One thing I especially like is that you can snap off a game in just a few minutes. A lot of the games on my phone are fun but they demand that I commit a decent amount of time to actually get through a game. Kings Corners is my game-of-choice for waiting in lines or waiting for the doctor or that sort of “2-Minutes-to-Burn” situations.

Other Questions I Know You’ll Ask Because You Always Do!

First, we are working on a Mac version of eWallet. It just isn’t done yet. We’ll keep you updated.

Second, this has no impact on our ListPro for iPhone work. We have different people doing different jobs, and there’s only so many people you can jam onto one project. The ListPro thing isn’t a result of needing people to throw at the project. If you haven’t already, you can read about that over here.

So, Go Get It Already!

So, go get your copy of Kings Corners already! The game is incredibly fun and right now the price is definitely right. And if you don’t like it, send me an email and I’ll personally apologize for leading you astray! That’s how confident I am that you’ll have fun!!

I know this is a Kings Corners blog entry, but I am anxiously awaiting the Mac Version of eWallet. We finally added an iMac to our stable of Windows boxes and that is the only thing left to give the Mac equal footing.

    So thanks for updating me….

Will this app allow you to listen to audio from a play list or a audio podcast while you play the game?

Some applications do while others do not. I see it as a HUGE mistake to block audio from a play list or podcast.

@Mike: Absolutely. This was a “must have” feature for Ellen, here at the office. You can listen to your own music/podcast while you play.

You guys and gals Rock! The downside is I just spent $0.99 to buy this app :-) I love to listen to audio and playing games while flying. Thanks for making another great software title.

I know this might not be the right place, but are there any updates on ListPro’s release date for the iPhone and iTouch? The eWallet application is great and ListPro would give me everything I need for my iPhone. Just wanted to make sure you were still working on its release, since the information for ListPro has been removed from the iPhone/iTouch portion of you website. Thanks for any information.

Will this ever be available for the Windows Mobile platform. I understand wanting to develop for iPhone but please don’t forget the large base of Windows people.

@Doug: I’m not sure, Doug. We’re still doing updates to existing Windows applications. In fact if you look back at everything we added to eWallet for WM over the past 12 months you’ll see that we’re still doing a LOT for WM.

But we’re faced with a bit of a challenge. iPhone application sales are looking very good. In addition, Apple makes it relatively easy to make beautiful applications (it isn’t “easy” per se, but compared to WM it is.) On WM we’d have to do a lot to get something as attractive as what you see on the iPhone. So while we can afford to do a gorgeous, simple, cheap app on the iPhone, the effort required to do the same thing on WM is much greater and thus the possibility of a reasonable return is much lower.

So in a nutshell, I’m not sure if we’ll do a KC update for WM, but we haven’t eliminated the possibility.

    Marc,

I saw your response to Doug Peterson’s question and would like to add another request for the Windows Mobile platform. Although the Iphone is rapidly growing in popularity, there are still a significant number of we WM users out here to possibly justify that cost. I understand the cost metrics as compared to ROI, so I’m trying not to sound selfish.

This game looks good. I’ll be buying right now and will happily supprt Ilium in their endeavours to bring their simply wonderful applications to the iPhone. I’m so pleased that you guys at Ilium are working on the Mac desktop eWallet app. I would be more than happy to pay somewhere in the region of $40 for each of your eWallet of ListPro apps to have them on my iMac and my iPhone. They are just so useful and have never let me down.

I’m off to play some Kings Corners so keep up the good work Ilium.
