eWallet 8.2 for Android update includes fingerprint support

We’re very pleased to announce that eWallet^® 8.2 for Android OS is now available in the Google Play and Amazon app stores. The new release includes fingerprint support for entering passwords, copy/pasting of cards within and between wallets, and the ability to rename and change the type of your card fields.

Some Android devices have had fingerprint scanners for a while now, but until Android OS 6 (Marshmallow), the scanners were supported by the device manufacturers rather than Android itself. We heard from many users (loud and clear!) that they really like the convenience of the fingerprint scanner, and now that Android 6 supports it, so does eWallet. And you can decide on a wallet-by-wallet basis if you want to use the fingerprint scanner to unlock your wallet or not.

Many of you also sync with the PC or Mac version of eWallet where it’s very convenient to move cards around between categories. As we all use our mobile devices for more and more in our daily lives though, it’s handy to be able to reorganize a bit by copy/pasting your eWallet cards right on your Android device.

Finally, many of you requested that we allow changing the field names directly in the Android version, for example, changing a label like User Name to Email. You can change the type of the field too, so if you want to have an extra password on your card and make that field hidden, now you can. Oh, and one more thing: the new version should be much better about opening the last wallet you used, so when you start eWallet, you’ll be right at the lock screen rather than your list of wallets.

I know I’ve said this before, but we are truly fortunate to get so much great real-world help with beta testing. We again had an excellent beta team for the 8.2 release and their feedback helped immensely. eWallet 8.2 for Windows PC (desktop) now available

By now most of you have probably already received automatic notification within eWallet^® for the new 8.2 version for your Windows PC. This version includes the following improvements:

Several user interface updates for Windows 10
Change to better support high DPI screens on Windows 10
Option to provide bigger click/touch area for list of cards and categories
Shortcut button for editing notes
Office 2016 ribbon style
Improved Updater
Updated installer
Updated Users Guide
Several other miscellaneous fixes and enhancements

Our main focus with the 8.2 update was to improve support for Windows 10, which many of our customers have upgraded to. If you use a high DPI (resolution) screen with your Windows 10 PC, then you should see a big improvement with this version of eWallet over the previous versions, as Windows 10 itself has changed the way it deals with high density screens.

We also implemented some smaller but very popular requests, including making the name easier to click or touch on in the list of cards and categories as well as adding a shortcut for editing the Notes field of a card. eWallet can also now automatically store a card with your eWallet registration information in your wallet for easy lookup the next time you need it.

Many of our users have both PCs and Macs, and if that’s true for you as well you might be interested to know that eWallet 8 for Mac now has the full SyncPro^® sync engine with cloud sync — which means you can now sync between your PC and Mac (not to mention your iOS and Android devices) using the cloud as well.

eWallet 8.2 for Windows PC (desktop) runs on Windows 10 PCs and tablets as a desktop app, Windows 8 and 8.1 in Desktop mode, and all versions of Windows 7. This update is free for all users who already own a license of eWallet for Windows PC (desktop), version 7 or higher; you can download or upgrade to the latest Windows PC version from our site (you do not need new registration codes). If you have version 7.5 or later with automatic updates turned on, you’ll get prompted to update to the latest version (you can press “Check for Updates” in the About screen too). eWallet 8.1 for Android now available

We’re very pleased to announce that eWallet^® 8.1 for Android OS is now available in the Google Play and Amazon app stores.

On the heels of the eWallet for iOS update, the new 8.1 update focuses on fully supporting the new permissions system in Android OS 6.0. The 6.0 permission system makes it possible for users to allow or revoke individual permissions when the product is running, rather than the old model of having to accept all the permissions when you installed the product. You know the saying, “with great power comes great responsibility” and the same applies here — you can revoke permissions on an app, but then it may not be able to do everything you would like. For eWallet, the main area of permissions is around being able to save backups and import information into a wallet.

We added several other “behind the scenes” features and fixes including the live search that now includes the title of the card (it was previously searching all the card data but not the title) and some improvements to the way images are handled.

eWallet 8.2 Update featuring multitasking in iOS App Store

eWallet logo eWallet^® 8.2 for iOS (iPad, iPhone and iPod touch) is now in the App Store. The app has been completely updated to further support iOS 9, especially in the area of multitasking on the iPad (and the new iPad Pro). There are several other improvements including landscape support on iPhones as well as enhancements to Touch ID.

eWallet 8.2 now takes advantage of the Slide Over and Split View multitasking features introduced with iOS 9 on the iPad. This means that eWallet can be sharing the screen with Safari, Mail, Photos, or any other app that supports these new features.

This release wasn’t all about the iPad though, the iPhone got some attention as well. Many users have asked for landscape support on the iPhone, especially for card view, and this version delivers. We also increased the font size in some key areas to make screens easier to read.

We made some enhancements for Touch ID with iOS 9 too, including disabling Touch ID for wallets if fingerprints are added or removed on the device, providing additional security for your important data. And local WiFi sync with the optional eWallet for Mac version got some tweaks that should make sync easier to operate, especially on Macs with the latest OS X version.

As usual, we added several other more minor bug fixes and features to the release, including the popular request to be able to display notes on picture card types.

eWallet Gets Cloud Sync in Android version

We’re very pleased to announce that our SyncPro^® engine including cloud sync is now included with eWallet^® 8 for Android.

The Windows PC (desktop) and iOS versions got the cloud sync upgrade last summer and now the Android version has it too. With version 8 of eWallet for Android you now have an additional way to sync and backup that makes use of cloud services, and doesn’t require a direct connection between devices. With cloud syncing you consider the wallet in the cloud to be the master, and then you can sync multiple devices (desktops, laptops, Android phones and tablets, and iOS devices) to that master wallet.

We still offer the direct WiFi sync method as well if you don’t want to (or can’t) store your wallet in the cloud, but we no longer offer the old USB sync, as many Android devices don’t support USB Mass Storage mode anyway.

In addition to cloud sync, we also completely updated the user interface using Google’s Material Design concepts. We also added new high resolution card icons for a new look, and one that fits in better with the new interface. The wallet file format is now the same as on other platforms, so wallets are essentially interchangeable across devices (there’s even a new feature that lets you email a backup copy of your wallet to yourself).

Please note that because of the wallet file change, if you want to continue to use WiFi sync between your PC and Android, you’ll need to upgrade your PC version of eWallet to 8.1.

eWallet 8.1 Update featuring Touch ID in iOS App Store

The app has been completely updated to further support iOS 8 along with the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices. In addition, eWallet on compatible iPhones and iPads now supports configurable Touch ID for easy, yet secure, access to the information in your wallets.

The eWallet 8.1 update was fully enhanced to support iOS 8; in fact, iOS 8 is now a requirement. eWallet will take advantage of the additional space on the larger iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus screens and will run rocket fast with 64-bit support. Oh yes, we did some screen improvements on the iPad as well!

We wanted to add Touch ID in a way that could be configurable based on personal preference. With that goal in mind, Touch ID can be enabled for each of your wallets separately, giving you maximum flexibility with this new feature. Simply go to More (three dots) then Touch ID to enable or disable the feature for the wallet you have open.

We added several other more minor bug fixes and features to the release as well, including the popular request to be able to delete or hide the sample wallet.
