AutoPass 3.1 now available

March 20, 2018 by Ken

eWallet AutoPass

eWallet’s built-in AutoPass feature for filling in a username and password is upgraded to version 3.1 for Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari, handling many more login web pages than the previous version.

If you’re using eWallet on your Windows PC or Mac, then you know you could just copy/paste your username and password from an eWallet card to your web page — but why do that when AutoPass will fill in the fields for you automatically. If you haven’t used AutoPass before, it’s easy — the first time you click on a URL in an eWallet card, you’ll be prompted to install a small extension for your browser — from then on for most sites just clicking on the URL will take you to your web page and automatically fill in those fields for you.

login form

So what’s new in AutoPass 3.1? AutoPass will now handle many more types of login pages than the previous version, including two-page logins. It will also honor autocomplete hints and has an improved method of selecting the fields to be filled in. If you have questions or suggestions about AutoPass, please do reach out to us.

AutoPass 3.1 is available as a free extension to licensed users of eWallet for Windows PC (desktop) and eWallet for macOS using Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge on Windows and Chrome, Firefox, or Safari on Mac. Normally the browser will automatically upgrade your AutoPass extension but if you have an older version, you should be able to upgrade it within your browser’s extension page.

eWallet 8.4 for Windows PC (desktop) now available

January 12, 2018 by Ken

eWallet

We are very pleased to announce that eWallet® 8.4 for Windows PC (desktop) is now available. This new version includes the following improvements:

  • AutoPass now supports the Microsoft Edge browser
  • eWallet now launches newer versions of Firefox using the new registration method
  • We updated the AutoPass extension for Firefox (packaged and delivered separately) for Mozilla’s completely new extension system
  • Updated the Dropbox library code used by SyncPro®
  • Now include an alternative login method for Dropbox for cloud sync
  • Updated link color on cards with very dark background
  • If Microsoft’s .NET 4 is not installed, eWallet will offer to install .NET 4.7
  • Updated installer for high resolution screens
  • Several other miscellaneous fixes and enhancements

As you can see from the list of features, AutoPass got a lot of attention in this release, including support for the Microsoft Edge browser. Although we received lots of requests to support Edge, it wasn’t possible initially as the browser itself didn’t support any kind of extensions. Fortunately Microsoft changed that and were very helpful in getting our new extension through the approval process.

Mozilla also changed how Firefox registered itself with Windows and switched to a new system for their extensions and eWallet (and the companion AutoPass extension for Firefox) have been updated to fully support the changes. Stay tuned for more updates to all of the AutoPass extensions (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Safari).

The release has several other improvements too, almost all of them based on user requests and feedback. Please keep the feedback coming and contact us any time you like.

eWallet 8.4 for Windows PC (desktop) runs on Windows 10 PCs and tablets as a desktop app, Windows 8 and 8.1 in Desktop mode, and all versions of Windows 7. This update is free for all users who already own a license of eWallet for Windows PC (desktop), version 7 or higher; you can download or upgrade to the latest Windows PC version from our site (you do not need new registration codes). If you have version 7.5 or later with automatic updates turned on, you’ll get prompted to update to the latest version (you can press “Check for Updates” in the About screen too). Get all the info about eWallet for Windows PC (desktop), including access to a 30-day trial version, here on our site.

eWallet 8.3 Update featuring new wallet format

December 6, 2016 by Ken

eWallet

eWallet® 8.3 with a new improved wallet format is now available on Android, iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod touch), Mac, and Windows PC (desktop).

“New wallet format? Well that doesn’t sound very exciting…” If you’re thinking that we wouldn’t blame you bit! But it turns out the format is really important as part of  the behind-the-scenes storage, organizing, and protecting of your personal and business information.

digital security

So what changed? The new wallet format has improved security, better support for international characters in category names, and we’ve bumped up some of the limits so you can now have larger wallets and more content, such as images and other attachments in your wallets. eWallet will upgrade to the new format automatically when you open your wallet, so there’s nothing special you need to do on your end. Since the wallet format has changed, it’s best if you’re running the new version everywhere, so you’ll want to make sure you upgrade all your devices, PCs, and Macs to take advantage of the changes and for the best sync experience.

We did several other things in each of the releases as well. As just a few examples, the Mac version now lets you initiate a call from Skype or a connected iPhone and has support for IPv6 networks, the PC and Android versions have additional information on the opened wallet, the iOS version has a faster live search, and all the platforms have fixes and enhancements for issues that might not have affected everyone, but we wanted to get them cleaned up.

We get such great feedback from our users — please keep it coming and contact us any time you like.

March 31, 2016 by Ken

eWallet

Just a quick note to let you know that the eWallet® 8.2.1 update for Windows PC (desktop) is now available.

We heard back from some of you after the recent 8.2 release about a couple of issues that although perhaps minor, we wanted to get fixed up right away. This included fixing the menu case on the new Office 2016 ribbon style as well as fixing a couple of window related issues. Our installer was updated at the same time and is now digitally signed (as is eWallet itself) using Microsoft’s new Authenticode standards. The complete list of changes is:

  • Office 2016 ribbon style corrected to use mixed case for menus
  • Authenticode digital signatures updated to Microsoft’s new SHA-256 standards
  • Updated SyncPro sync engine to fix sync via SFTP issue
  • Updated to internationalized installer
  • Installer now sets DPI property for eWallet on Windows 7
  • Fixed issue where maximized window could not be moved

If you ever run into an issue, or want to suggest a new feature, please contact us.

eWallet 8.2.1 for Windows PC (desktop) runs on Windows 10 PCs and tablets as a desktop app, Windows 8 and 8.1 in Desktop mode, and all versions of Windows 7. This update is free for all users who already own a license of eWallet for Windows PC (desktop), version 7 or higher; you can download or upgrade to the latest Windows PC version from our site (you do not need new registration codes). eWallet 8.2 for Windows PC (desktop) now available

March 14, 2016 by Ken

eWallet

By now most of you have probably already received automatic notification within eWallet® for the new 8.2 version for your Windows PC. This version includes the following improvements:

  • Several user interface updates for Windows 10
  • Change to better support high DPI screens on Windows 10
  • Option to provide bigger click/touch area for list of cards and categories
  • Shortcut button for editing notes
  • Office 2016 ribbon style
  • Improved Updater
  • Updated installer
  • Updated Users Guide
  • Several other miscellaneous fixes and enhancements

Our main focus with the 8.2 update was to improve support for Windows 10, which many of our customers have upgraded to. If you use a high DPI (resolution) screen with your Windows 10 PC, then you should see a big improvement with this version of eWallet over the previous versions, as Windows 10 itself has changed the way it deals with high density screens.

We also implemented some smaller but very popular requests, including making the name easier to click or touch on in the list of cards and categories as well as adding a shortcut for editing the Notes field of a card. eWallet can also now automatically store a card with your eWallet registration information in your wallet for easy lookup the next time you need it.

Many of our users have both PCs and Macs, and if that’s true for you as well you might be interested to know that eWallet 8 for Mac now has the full SyncPro® sync engine with cloud sync — which means you can now sync between your PC and Mac (not to mention your iOS and Android devices) using the cloud as well.

eWallet 8.2 for Windows PC (desktop) runs on Windows 10 PCs and tablets as a desktop app, Windows 8 and 8.1 in Desktop mode, and all versions of Windows 7. Get all the info about eWallet (including access to a 30-day trial version) here on our site.

eWallet Gets Cloud Sync in Android version

March 17, 2015 by Ken

e-wallet

We’re very pleased to announce that our SyncPro® engine including cloud sync is now included with eWallet® 8 for Android.

The Windows PC (desktop) and iOS versions got the cloud sync upgrade last summer and now the Android version has it too. With version 8 of eWallet for Android you now have an additional way to sync and backup that makes use of cloud services, and doesn’t require a direct connection between devices. With cloud syncing you consider the wallet in the cloud to be the master, and then you can sync multiple devices (desktops, laptops, Android phones and tablets, and iOS devices) to that master wallet.

cloud sync

We still offer the direct WiFi sync method as well if you don’t want to (or can’t) store your wallet in the cloud, but we no longer offer the old USB sync, as many Android devices don’t support USB Mass Storage mode anyway.

In addition to cloud sync, we also completely updated the user interface using Google’s Material Design concepts. We also added new high resolution card icons for a new look, and one that fits in better with the new interface. The wallet file format is now the same as on other platforms, so wallets are essentially interchangeable across devices (there’s even a new feature that lets you email a backup copy of your wallet to yourself).

Please note that because of the wallet file change, if you want to continue to use WiFi sync between your PC and Android, you’ll need to upgrade your PC version of eWallet to 8.1.

A special thank you to our Android beta testing team who have been testing and giving us great feedback. If you’re interested in participating in a future beta, or have any questions or comments about the release, please contact us!

eWallet 8.0 for Android runs on Android OS 4.0.3 to 5.x including both phones and tablets. This upgrade is free for all users who already own a license of eWallet version 7 for Android. If you purchased a copy from Google Play or Amazon using their app stores, then you’ll be able to use the Update feature in the respective store to get the new version. Get all the info about eWallet here on our site.

eWallet 8.1 for Windows PC runs on all versions of Windows 7, and runs on Windows 8 and 8.1 in Desktop mode. This update is free for all users who already own a license of eWallet for Windows PC (desktop), version 7 or 8; you can download or upgrade to the latest Windows PC version from our site (you do not need new registration codes). If you have version 7.5 or later with automatic updates turned on, you’ll get prompted to update to the latest version (you can press “Check for Updates” in the About screen too). Get all the info about eWallet (including access to a 30-day trial version) here on our site.
