Turn Any Computer into Your Personal Computer

October 25, 2006 by Julie

I just found out about this amazing new product called MojoPac that lets you shrink your personal computer so it fits in your pocket! If this sounds like a line from a really bad infomercial, trust me, it’s not; and if it doesn’t sound entirely believable, well, it is. Okay, MojoPac won’t literally shrink your computer, but it does let you install any of your programs, files, and personal settings on devices like iPods or USB drives, so you can access them safely from anywhere. Now, to switch back to infomercial mode: But wait, there’s more!

If you have eWallet on your Windows PC, you can install it on your MojoPac device and carry it with you, along with any of your other personal Windows PC programs and settings you want to add to MojoPac. When you combine the already strong security of eWallet with the safety of a MojoPac PC, you never have to worry that your personal information can be seen by anyone but you. When you disconnect your MojoPac device from another computer, all your data stays with you. You can look at your eWallet files just as if you were on your home computer, and it all stays safely on MojoPac.

Visit the MojoPac website to learn more about how MojoPac works, and what devices you can carry it on – including iPods, USB flash drives, and even some cell phone models.

You can also check out our Windows PC eWallet information to find out more about the program, and how it works alone or with MojoPac to protect your information and make it easy for you to access when you need it.

Good News From the Handango Summit

September 13, 2006 by Julie

We’ve just gotten two pieces of good news from the Handango Summit:

eWallet (Professional Edition) won the Handango Champion 2006 award for Best Application for Life on the Pocket PC platform. The Champion awards are Handango’s annual awards recognizing the top software in various categories. Users choose their favorite programs to be nominated, then the final awards are chosen by an independent panel of judges made up of industry experts in the mobile software field.

InScribe, which we’ll be releasing later this month for the new Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC) platform, was one of the 3 winning programs in Handango’s best new UMPC software contest. The 3 winning programs were selected by independent experts and Microsoft personnel as showing best utilization of the features and functionality of the new platform.

We’ll have more information soon – we’re still waiting for Ellen and Marc to get back from the conference, and for the official press releases from Handango, but we wanted to get the news out right away.

Meet (another) Member of the Staff

July 3, 2006 by Julie

Hi, I’m Julie. I’ve been working at Ilium Software since last September, and I help work on the website and marketing end of things. I also help answer the phones when everyone in support gets swamped. So, if any out there ever calls and gets me, you might not get technical help right away, but I am great at taking messages!

Besides working on the web site here, I am still going to school, online, for a degree in web development, so I am pretty much in front of a computer screen either here or at home, about 12 hours a day. Of course, I’m not complaining, really – I’m glad that there is such a thing as online school. I don’t know if I would be able to work here and attend a traditional college – there just isn’t much flexibility in on-site schools, but the Internet is always open.

I have to admit, before I started working at Ilium Software, I didn’t know much at all about PDAs. I mean, I’d heard about them, seen commercials and ads, but I couldn’t have told you the difference between a Pocket PC and a Palm handheld to save my life. Of course, it’s not like they always make it easy out there, as in the new Palm Treo 700w Smartphone, which actually runs a Pocket PC operating system. I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s ever been confused by handheld devices. So I’m really glad that I’m starting to understand more about mobile devices and that I am able to use them when I need to around here – the world is definitely becoming more mobile, and wireless, and all those other technological-type adjectives.

Our New Online Service

June 14, 2006 by Julie

Today we released our newest online service, PassBuilder.com. It’s a free password generator program that can create unique passwords based on the different criteria that users choose. It’s really great – it lets people pick lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and punctuation. They can even choose to get a memory aid when they generate their password – which is important these days, when nobody has just one password to remember! I admit, for some things that I need a password for on my home computer, I still use jumbled versions of my cats’ names and book titles. Maybe now that PassBuilder is out, I’ll go home tonight and fix some of those passwords online!

Another great thing about this new service is that it works with or without JavaScript enabled in your browser, and it works great on mobile devices too. So now, wherever anyone goes, they can visit PassBuilder and create new passwords at the drop of a hat.

Nice Stuff Today

June 2, 2006 by Julie

We’re getting a lot of nice coverage today:

Quite a few sites covered our anniversary sale. Just look at this list of people we have to thank for helping spread the word of our celebration: Pocket PC Thoughts, Mobility Today, SmartPhone Thoughts, Clinton Fitch, Pocket PC Magazine, Aximsite, Daily Gadget, Boston Pocket PC, Pocket Goddess, GadgetMe, Mobile Gadget News, Pocket PC Louisville, The Gadgeteer, 4WinMobile, and Geek.com.

PocketNow did a comparison of the 3 top wallet programs, in which eWallet came out on top, and which also generated some nice discussion.
