Protecting your information

July 2, 2014 by Amanda

life preserverMore and more people are living their digital lives entirely out of their mobile devices, but the convenience of keeping your data with you may also be keeping all of your eggs in one basket.

Each mobile device is unique and the information you keep on a device is often just as unique as the files and documents you might keep on a computer. So like a computer, you should always take steps to preserve and backup any of the important information you save on your mobile devices.

Backing up everything on iOS devices can be as easy as making a full device backup using iCloud or iTunes on your computer. For Android, connecting your device to the computer can let you pick and choose the important data you’d like to copy as a backup.

No matter what type of device you’re using, it’s very important to make sure you are in control of your system. A reputable anti-virus application can be a good thing to add to your device, but as with any apps you install, your own research and caution is the best defense against malware.

Being in control of your system is even more imperative if you plan on using any kind of memory/file cleaning app for your mobile devices. Because “cleanup” type apps are specifically designed to delete information, they should be used with caution. If possible, set cleaner apps to ignore your most used programs and always double-check the information that the cleaner wants to delete before allowing it to clean. (Remember those backups?)

eWallet 7.6 for Android now available

April 17, 2014 by Ken

eWallet logoThe new 7.6 version of eWallet® for Android is now available. This release includes the often requested AutoPass feature, some UI improvements, and several fixes.

AutoPass is a feature that automatically sends the user name and password from your wallet to the web page when you visit a site from a link within eWallet. The AutoPass feature can be turned on/off globally as well as on a card-by-card basis.

We also made some improvements for when the keyboard shows and hides itself so there’s not so much up and down between fields. Certain devices were reporting the wrong IP address for sync and that has been sorted out in this version. Finally, a few users were running into some crashes and we fixed those too in this release.

Thanks to all of you have have taken the time to write to us with suggestions — we appreciate all the great feedback and please keep it coming.

eWallet for Android runs on Android OS 2.3.3 to 4.x including both phones and tablets. This upgrade is free for all users who already own a license of eWallet version 7 for Android. eWallet 7.5.2 Update for iOS in App Store

February 27, 2014 by Ken

eWallet logoeWallet® 7.5.2 for iOS (iPad, iPhone and iPod touch) is now in the App Store. This release resolves a synchronization issue with the PC that was introduced by a piece of technology used by many Windows applications called “WinINet”. Unfortunately, the Internet Explorer 11 browser appears to have been shipped with a version of WinINet that included a bug that adversely affected people trying to sync eWallet. We already worked around the issue in eWallet 7.6 on the PC side but wanted to also provide a solution for people who haven’t yet had a chance to upgrade eWallet on their PCs.

eWallet for iOS runs on iOS 6 and iOS 7. This update is free for all users who already own a license of eWallet version 7 for iOS on compatible devices, and is delivered by the on-device App Store. Get all the info about eWallet here on our site.

As always, please keep the great feedback coming!
