eWallet 8.5 for Windows PC (desktop) now available

April 5, 2019 by Ken

eWallet header logo

We are very pleased to announce that eWallet® 8.5 for Windows PC (desktop) is now available. Before discussing the changes in the release I want to first thank everyone who took the time to write us with suggestions, tested pre-release versions, discussed different ideas, or all of the above! Over the last 22 years we’ve been lucky enough to support some very loyal and passionate users and we’re very thankful for that. As usual, most of the features in 8.5 were based on user requests.

Now on to the changes for this release:

  • Now uses Microsoft’s .NET Framework 4.7 which includes improved networking support (including TLS 1.2), improved support for high DPI monitors, performance and reliability improvements
  • Improved support for large notes, both in Flex View and Edit View
  • The card editor now offers a list of your most frequently used usernames for easier entry when creating new cards
  • Resolves an AutoPass timing issue introduced by newer versions of Firefox
  • Added AutoPass support for Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR)
  • Dropbox login page now done via the default browser for better compatibility
  • Includes an updated Dropbox library used by SyncPro®
  • Skype detection now looks for skype: scheme rather than an installed program
  • Added support for printing a selection including subcategories
  • Now provide guidance when Windows 10 Controlled folder access is turned on
  • Added configuration settings requested by business users
  • Updated Installer with additional high DPI support
  • Installer offers to install .NET 4.7.2 if .NET 4.7 or later not found
  • Several other miscellaneous fixes and enhancements

Switching to the latest Microsoft .NET framework provides a whole host of benefits, not the least of which is better networking support. The runtime engine for the framework is already included in newer versions of Windows 10 (since “Creators Update”) and is available via Windows Update on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. If it’s not already on your PC though, eWallet’s installer will offer to download it for you.

We have quite a few users who keep really large notes in their cards and the previous cell editor just wasn’t handling large amounts of text in a robust manner. The Notes field now gets its own control which should be easier to use with large amounts of text as well as perform a lot better when scrolling.

As you can see from the list, there’s a ton of other features and fixes that went into the release as well; if you have any questions about any of them or suggestions for future changes, please contact us!

eWallet 8.5 for Windows PC (desktop) runs on Windows 10 PCs and tablets as a desktop app, Windows 8.1 in Desktop mode, and all versions of Windows 7 (sp1+). This update is free for all users who already own a license of eWallet for Windows PC (desktop), version 7 or higher; you can download or upgrade to the latest Windows PC version from our site (you do not need new registration codes). If you have version 7.5 or later with automatic updates turned on, you’ll get prompted to update to the latest version (you can press “Check for Updates” in the About screen too). Get all the info about eWallet for Windows PC (desktop), including access to a 30-day trial version, here on our site.

eWallet 8.4 Update featuring Dark Mode in Mac App Store

November 20, 2018 by Ken

eWallet® 8.4 for macOS is now in the Mac App Store. The new version has a focus on macOS Mojave (10.14) but includes plenty of improvements for Sierra and High Sierra users as well.

One of Apple’s goals with Dark Mode in macOS Mojave was to provide a “distraction-free working environment” and eWallet fully supports that. We went through every window and panel in eWallet and made the appropriate adjustments so they look great in both Light and Dark appearances.

And we added several other features as well across all three macOS versions, based on user requests. eWallet has long had the ability to print out a selection or an entire wallet but now the containing category name is included as part of that output. Create a new card and we now automatically give it a default title, to save a bit of typing. We enhanced the inactivity wallet lock as well so even if you left your card in the middle of editing, even the selected field will be saved. We also updated the Dropbox library to the latest version and switched over to using the default browser for the initial Dropbox login credentials.

eWallet 8.4 for macOS runs on macOS 10.12 or later, (includes Sierra, High Sierra, and Mojave). This update is free for all users who already purchased a license for eWallet version 7 or 8 from Apple’s Mac App Store. Get all the info about eWallet (including access to a 30-day trial version) here on our site.

As always, please keep the great feedback coming! And thank you to our Mojave beta team, who helped us identify issues and resolve them on macOS Mojave.

eWallet 8.4 Update featuring AutoFill in iOS App Store

October 30, 2018 by Ken

eWallet logoeWallet® 8.4 for iOS (iPad, iPhone and iPod touch) is now in the App Store. The updated app not only supports the new iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max devices, but also features support for AutoFill in iOS 12.

eWallet’s AutoPass feature has long allowed users to click on a URL in their wallet and have the username and password filled in on the website, all displayed directly within eWallet. In eWallet 8.4, AutoPass has been enhanced to also work with the new AutoFill functionality that is part of iOS 12.

Tap in a password field in Safari or any other app, and AutoFill on the device works with eWallet to fill in the appropriate login information. And like with using eWallet directly, when prompted for your wallet password you can type it in, use Touch ID, or use Face ID, as appropriate for your device.

Our customers have long told us that AutoPass is one of their favorite features in eWallet — and now with AutoFill we think that feature is even more useful.

eWallet 8.4 for iOS runs on iOS 8 and up, including iOS 12. eWallet is optimized for iPad Air and iPad Pro, iPhone 5, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. The latest version is available via the on-device App Store. Get all the info about eWallet for iOS here on our site.

Thank you for using eWallet, and please keep the great feedback coming! A big thank you to our eWallet AutoFill beta team, who helped us test the AutoFill feature and gave us outstanding feedback for this version and versions going forward.

AutoPass 3.1 now available

March 20, 2018 by Ken

eWallet AutoPass

eWallet’s built-in AutoPass feature for filling in a username and password is upgraded to version 3.1 for Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari, handling many more login web pages than the previous version.

If you’re using eWallet on your Windows PC or Mac, then you know you could just copy/paste your username and password from an eWallet card to your web page — but why do that when AutoPass will fill in the fields for you automatically. If you haven’t used AutoPass before, it’s easy — the first time you click on a URL in an eWallet card, you’ll be prompted to install a small extension for your browser — from then on for most sites just clicking on the URL will take you to your web page and automatically fill in those fields for you.

login form

So what’s new in AutoPass 3.1? AutoPass will now handle many more types of login pages than the previous version, including two-page logins. It will also honor autocomplete hints and has an improved method of selecting the fields to be filled in. If you have questions or suggestions about AutoPass, please do reach out to us.

AutoPass 3.1 is available as a free extension to licensed users of eWallet for Windows PC (desktop) and eWallet for macOS using Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge on Windows and Chrome, Firefox, or Safari on Mac. Normally the browser will automatically upgrade your AutoPass extension but if you have an older version, you should be able to upgrade it within your browser’s extension page.

eWallet and ListPro support iPhone X

January 23, 2018 by Ken

We still get a few prospective eWallet® and ListPro® users asking if the apps support the iPhone X — well, yes they do!

eWallet and ListPro screenshots

ListPro & eWallet on iPhone X

Although the iPhone X is similar in physical size to the iPhone 8, it actually has more pixels and a higher pixel density than the physically larger iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone X also has the interesting notch at the top of the screen and of course, no home button. In addition to completely supporting this new high resolution iPhone X screen, eWallet also supports Apple’s Face ID technology allowing you to (optionally) unlock your wallets in the same way you unlock your phone.

Have other questions about eWallet or ListPro on the iPhone X — feel free to reach out to us and we’ll be happy to answer them.

eWallet 8.3 for iOS runs on iOS 8, iOS 9, iOS 10, and iOS 11 and is optimized for iPad Air and iPad Pro, iPhone 5, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X. The latest version is available via the on-device App Store. Get all the info about eWallet for iOS here on our site.

ListPro 5.2 for iPhone runs on iOS 8, iOS 9, iOS 10 and iOS 11 and is optimized for iPhone 5, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, and 6s Plus, SE, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X. The latest version is available via the on-device App Store. Get all the info about ListPro for iPhone here on our site.

eWallet 8.4 for Windows PC (desktop) now available

January 12, 2018 by Ken

eWallet

We are very pleased to announce that eWallet® 8.4 for Windows PC (desktop) is now available. This new version includes the following improvements:

  • AutoPass now supports the Microsoft Edge browser
  • eWallet now launches newer versions of Firefox using the new registration method
  • We updated the AutoPass extension for Firefox (packaged and delivered separately) for Mozilla’s completely new extension system
  • Updated the Dropbox library code used by SyncPro®
  • Now include an alternative login method for Dropbox for cloud sync
  • Updated link color on cards with very dark background
  • If Microsoft’s .NET 4 is not installed, eWallet will offer to install .NET 4.7
  • Updated installer for high resolution screens
  • Several other miscellaneous fixes and enhancements

As you can see from the list of features, AutoPass got a lot of attention in this release, including support for the Microsoft Edge browser. Although we received lots of requests to support Edge, it wasn’t possible initially as the browser itself didn’t support any kind of extensions. Fortunately Microsoft changed that and were very helpful in getting our new extension through the approval process.

Mozilla also changed how Firefox registered itself with Windows and switched to a new system for their extensions and eWallet (and the companion AutoPass extension for Firefox) have been updated to fully support the changes. Stay tuned for more updates to all of the AutoPass extensions (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Safari).

The release has several other improvements too, almost all of them based on user requests and feedback. Please keep the feedback coming and contact us any time you like.

eWallet 8.4 for Windows PC (desktop) runs on Windows 10 PCs and tablets as a desktop app, Windows 8 and 8.1 in Desktop mode, and all versions of Windows 7.
